Happy International Women's Day from the ladies of Ocean Springs Mercantile

This International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the women in our lives who make a difference in ours.
The ones who lead, inspire, and challenge us to be better.
Ocean Springs Mercantile is a woman-owned & woman-led small business that houses vintage items & antiques, gifts, home & garden décor, and a little bit of spice.
The woman behind the counter – Susan Hagan, is originally from Fort Worth, Texas, which may be obvious to some who frequent OSM, as her Texas personality shines in the store.
While she has always had a love for decorating, her career stemmed in managing a high-end boutique for over 10 years, where she helped women with wardrobes and organizing closets.
When Katrina devastated the MS Gulf Coast, her husband, Randy, moved to the region to help the people of the coast with debris removal & reconstructing homes.
Susan found herself splitting her time from Texas to Mississippi, but eventually uprooted their life from Fort Worth and began a new one on the Gulf Coast.
With that came a lot of change and new opportunities. Susan knew that her passion and creativity needed an outlet. She wanted to bring something unique, something that was missing in the Ocean Springs retail scene. Right before the Peter Anderson Festival in 2016, Ocean Springs Mercantile was born.
OSM, or “The Merc”, is unlike any other shop in town. Susan wanted to house antiques & vintage items that tell a story, while keeping the boutique-style of her roots in retail. Susan says that “almost 4 full years in business it is still a work in progress! We are always trying to find the unusual/perfect piece whether it is a vintage, antique or new piece!”
If you come shop at Ocean Springs Mercantile any day of the week, it’s likely you’ll encounter a strong-willed woman helping you find the perfect gift or piece of décor.
“I have an exceptional crew of women working for me. There have been many people that have come and gone, but I am blessed to have my girls" says Susan Hagan.
OSM is the perfect marriage of appreciating the history and age of an overlooked item and adapting to the new wave of artistry, décor, and style. We strive to have something for everyone and are proud to be the place where you’ll find a medley of old and new.
